not too sure if many of you will agree with me on this one but do you all think wharny needs a long dh track?....its do-able.

im 100% behind getting my hands dirty making it and i know of others that will also help.

ive no clue as to who is in charge of the building (im guessing it singletraction though) and wondered if any other local riders feel the need to have a long dh run (ie over 2-3min long).

obviously things to look at will be the carefull crossing of any fireroads and the wildlife/plantlife etc.

 whats your thoughts?

Aint gonna happen Scott, not officially anyway.

The Forestry have banned all digging in wharncliffe due to the guy making threats towards riders with immediate effect.

The lads who took over the dh dig days are not keen to continue anyway after Craig's car was broken into at the top of the tracks on their first dig.

Singletraction are no longer part of the Wharncliffe (lack of) developments.  Will officially withrdraw soon.  FE have asked for "official" digging to stop...

But, if you ask me in a non official capacity... I could show you exactly where you shouldnt start to use the longest part of the hill is.. or is not as it were..

Who is this bloke anyway? Is he some kind of psycho?

You definitely SHOULD'nt build a long track it WOULDn't be a good addition to the woods.

Si, any news on parkwood springs yet?

parkwood ticking along, I think it will be after summer before they have chance to setup rangers etc to be there at Digs...  Lottery funding gone to stage 2 so looks good.

A long run would be nice but there just isn't the height at wharncliffe for a 3 min dowhill. You might just about squeeze a 2 min one if you make it quite pedally but the maximum realistic height drop (crags to plank gate) is only just over 100m whereas something like the Pearce Bringewood races (quite pedally for DH) cover 190m of height drop:

But I am happy for anyone to prove me wrong  ;D

well at the minute all the tracks begin from the fire road.....i was hoping to start one from further up and crossing on a different part of the fireroad but it aint happening either way with the traps being layed out......wharncliffe would turn into a mini afgan/basra with all the traps.
