Wheelbase NPS 4X

Wheelbase NPS 4X

The race series for the jumpy boys kicked off from Sheffield today. Time to get over to Wheelbase and see if it was a Dream or a nightmare when you got your snap on! Gallery now online here!

The good thing about riding the Dream is you don't need to check the weather before you set off to race! No tyres to swap, no tear offs to pack. Just head up to Sheffield and get your snap on. If these words and photo's tempt you, Wheelbase (the Indoor Dream) is open till the end of this month and needs your support. Use it or loose it!

Public Service Announcement - If you are racing at all, especially multi-man, please remember your bar end plugs! No-one wants a core sample taking out of their leg. It's kinda sore and takes a while to heal. So when the Commissaire bugs you, it's not because he loves authority - it's for your own good! So is doing up your helmet and displaying your number board. Three rules. Abuse them and loose your ride. Back to normal service...

Partyboybsx and Hudu on the mic's

The course is pretty straight forward. 4 straights, 3 berms and a decent start hill. All indoors, crafted from a load of dirt. Despite Hudu having played his hose over the track daily for the last week, the 100 or so riders soon whipped up the dust once practise was underway - the track was running fast and dry despite the showers outside. Time to get your snap on!

Pop the start, pump/jump the doubles and into the No Wimps! stepup to berm. Nail Nessie as hard and smooth as you can to berm two. Smooth and pump the third straight - double, double, triple. Berm three (the 'G turn') and into the Pro section to finish. Assume for a minute you get the holeshot. Sound simple? Not with three others chasing you down, all fighting for your line.

The legendary G turn saw some passing action into the final Pro section.

Highlights (more words to come soon)

Straight over the second berm to flat is not the way to go! Elbow to elbow bar banging action all the way to the line.

Will Longden led out and fell foul of the hardpack. Slipping out, he went down hard and was lucky to finish in tact when his leg got unavoidably ridden over.

A Finals - Boom! Scott Beaumont got sent out over the first turn berm. Do not pass the 2nd berm - do not collect the prize fund.

Some very embrassed lads will have to tell their mates they got schooled by a girl - Abbey Taylor rules!

Dale Holmes tore the track apart, angling the bike up and carrying on pedalling through the first rollers to a multi-bike lead by the 'No Wimps!' jump.
