Description:

Ambergate is a wooded hillside with several DH tracks ranging in terain, from a technical rocky trail, to a fast soft ground trail full of jumps and berms, road jumps, doubles, river run (very wet) and many others.

There is also lots of XC riding too...

I don't think bikers are allowed in the woods but we never see anyone that's not riding so you'll be fine. These woods are where Mark Weightman rides with his mates. There is riding for everyone of any standard but some of the runs are difficult, rocky and wet.

Directions:

Ambergate is a small village just north of Derby on the A6. When driving through Ambergate, coming from Derby, you will pass under a bridge. Shortly after you will pass a petrol station on the left. Straight after the petrol station, turn left over a narrow bridge, then after the bridge take the first right up the dirt track. About 100 metres park in the passing areas on the left.

To find the tracks, ride up the hill until you come to a garage, you will see a track oposite the garage that heads down to some factories that are deserted. Ride past all the factories and ride straight on. At the end of the factories you will have the choice of 2 roads, one straight on and one that goes up slightly. Go straight on and continue until you enter the woods (you will see a green forestry commission sign). From here just carry straight on the path. This path is where all the runs end.

It may be best to go with someone who knows the area, but if you go on your own, just explore a bit and youll find all the trails!
